FCA Trip to Newcastle, NSW

The FCA is pleased to announce a working media trip to Newcastle on 18 September 2026.

Itinerary

• 7:00 AM – Departure from Sydney:Courtesy coach transfer from Central Station.
• 9:15 AM – Renewable Energy Testing Ground (NIER): Behind-the-scenes access to the Newcastle Institute for Energy and Resources. Explore cutting-edge pilot facilities focusing on hydrogen technologies, decarbonization, and future fuels.
• 11:15 AM – Healthcare Innovation Accelerator (HMRI & John Hunter Precinct): A briefing on one of Australia’s largest regional health infrastructure investments, alongside a tour of the Hunter Medical Research Institute to discuss “lab-to-life” medical breakthroughs, respiratory research, and global pandemic preparedness.
• 01:00 PM – Lunch & Destination Briefing: A scenic lunch overlooking Newcastle Harbour at Nagisa Japanese Restaurant, featuring a briefing on Newcastle’s tourism, lifestyle, and global connections.
• 2:30 PM – Newcastle Airport: A guided walkthrough showcasing a rising regional star, a leader in sustainability, featuring some very interesting defence links.
• 4:00 PM – Departure: Return transfer to Sydney, arriving back at approximately 6:00 PM.
