The “Tokyo Olympics 2020 + 1” and the Japan-Australia relationship on trade and investment were among the topics presented by the Consul-General of Japan in Sydney, Mr Masahiko Kiya, to FCA members at a Zoom Press Conference on Wednesday, August 19. Mr Masahiko Kiya told Foreign Correspondents that the Japanese government is working with the World Health Organisation (WHO) on a Covid Safety Plan to reassure the safety of athletes and visitors during the Olympic Games, which will start on July 23, 2021.

The attendees also watched the new video campaigns released by the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Tokyo 2020), with messages of respect and gratitude for all those supporting the Games, and support for the athletes aiming to participate in next year’s Olympics. Masahiko Kiya is a career diplomat with more than 30 years of experience and he took up the post of Consul-General of Japan in Sydney in October 2019.
