FCA AGM 2024
2024 Annual General Meeting at the Department of Foreign Affairs in Sydney
We welcomed FCA members – foreign correspondents, local journalists, cameramen, photographers, and associate members – for our annual general meeting on Tuesday, 27th of August. We had members attending in person as well as online – with technology making it possible for journalists based in Singapore or travelling overseas in the UK and Fiji to participate as well.
The 2024 meeting was the last meeting with our outgoing Swiss president Laurence Arthur at the helm. She is handing over to our British colleague Peter Hadfield who was elected unanimously. We thanked Laurence for three productive years and treated her to some European chocolates. The other members applying for board positions were also voted in unanimously. These are Rocio Otoya Watanabe as vice president, Wolfgang Mueller as secretary, Elizabeth Lacerda as treasurer, and Marie Geissler, Barbara Barkhausen, Raj Suri and, Gonzalo Aguirregomezcorta, as board members. Laurence, the former president, will also remain on the board.
After discussing last year’s finances and some ideas for upcoming events, trips, and our upcoming 40-year-anniversary exhibition next year, most members in attendance went to have lunch courtesy of the FCA. We spent another lively two hours over some beautiful food discussing ideas and sharing stories from our home countries – Vietnam, Japan, Switzerland, Germany, France, Spain and Chile.
