Media excursion to the Blue Mountains
May 29, 2014
After the devastating bush fires from november 2013 the Blue Mountains saw a 50% drop in tourism. As many tourists believed the entire region had burnt they avoided the Blue Mountains, causing hundreds of people to loose their jobs.
The Blue Mountains City Council in cooperation with Blue Mountains Tourism invited members of the FCA for a day trip to the fire-ravaged region. Without shying away from the reality they wanted to show that the region is still worth visiting and explained how bush fires are part of the natural system.
The Mayor of the Blue Mountain City Council, the director of Blue Mountain Tourism, the director of Parks and Wildlife Service and the regional head of the RFS (Rural Fire Service) all helped tell the story of a region fighting to recover after the flames had disappeared.
